The science of staying balanced
Your skin's acid mantle sits around pH 4.5–5.5. Body odour is bacteria producing acidic compounds on that surface. Bicarbonate soda is mildly alkaline — it neutralises those acids on contact, which is where the deodorising comes from.
It mops sebum rather than melting it. Foaming washes strip oils wholesale; the paste lifts the excess and the grime, then gets out of the way. A controlled, gentle polish rather than a sandblasting.
The temporary nudge upward in pH can calm itchy or irritated areas. If your skin runs dry, Morning Glory's castor oil base — fatty acids that hydrate and restore suppleness — is the one to start with.

Questions people actually ask
What actually is a guasha body wash?
Gua sha is a centuries-old East Asian practice of massaging and scraping the skin rather than just washing over it. This is a cheeky reinvention of it: a paste you work straight onto wet skin instead of a foam that sits on top. It is made to be massaged in — especially the bacteria-prone spots like the armpits and groin, where sweat and odour actually start. Body wash, scrub and deodoriser in one tub — four ingredients, nothing else.
Why doesn't it foam?
No foaming agents means no bubbles doing the marketing for you. The paste is worked onto wet skin, so the bicarb can neutralise odour and buff away the day where it actually sits.
How do I use it?
Scoop a small amount into your hand and add a little water to activate the paste. Massage it into the armpits and groin first — wherever there are lymph nodes and sweat glands — then over the rest of the body that needs a deep clean. Rinse off. Seal the lid tightly after use.
My tub looks a bit different to my last one. Normal?
Completely. Handcrafted, not factory made — every tub varies slightly, and crystallised edges are just the bicarb and vodka doing their thing.
What about sensitive skin?
Patch test first — it contains vodka and bicarb, which can irritate some people. If you're prone to dryness, start with Morning Glory. When in doubt, check with a healthcare professional.
