A scoop and a splash
The paste being mixed by hand — a scoop, a tiny bit of water, worked until it loosens. That is the whole trick, and it is the same in your own hand in the shower.
Six steps, start to finish

Scoop
Take a small amount of the paste out of the tub with your fingers and put it in the palm of your hand. It comes out firm — that is the bicarb and the vodka doing their thing, and it is meant to feel like that.

Add water
Add a tiny bit of water and work it between your hands until it loosens into a paste. That is what wakes it up. Under the shower is easiest, but the water goes into your hand — not onto the tub.

Start with the armpits and groin
Massage it into the skin rather than skating it over the top. Start where the lymph nodes and the sweat glands are — under the arms, and the groin — because that is where body odour actually begins. The alkaline bicarb neutralises the acidic bacteria behind it.

Then everywhere else that needs it
Work it over the rest of the body that needs a proper clean. The grit in the paste gives a controlled, gentle polish as it goes — a buff, not a sandblasting.

Rinse off
Rinse it all away. There is no foam to chase, so it goes quickly. Your skin should feel clean and soft rather than tight and squeaky.

Seal the lid
Press the lid on firmly after every use. It is a fresh, handmade paste with no synthetic preservatives holding it together, so keeping the air out is what keeps it right.

Why you massage it in
Gua sha is a centuries-old East Asian practice of massaging and scraping the skin rather than just washing over it. This is a cheeky reinvention of that: a paste you work straight onto wet skin instead of a foam that sits on top and rinses away.
That is why the bacteria-prone spots come first. Anywhere with lymph nodes and sweat glands is where the smell starts, so that is where the paste has a job to do.
Why it doesn't foam
There are no foaming agents in it, so there are no bubbles doing the marketing for you. Foam is theatre — it is not what is cleaning you.
Ordinary washes strip your natural oils wholesale, which is that tight, squeaky feeling after a shower. Tight isn't clean. It's stripped. This lifts the excess and the grime and then gets out of the way.
First time using it
Do a patch test
It contains vodka and bicarbonate soda, which can irritate some people. Try a small patch first and see how your skin takes it. If you are ever unsure, check with a healthcare professional.
If your skin runs dry
Start with Morning Glory. It is on a castor oil base — fatty acids that hydrate and restore suppleness — so it is the gentlest place to begin if you are prone to dryness or eczema.
Expect a tingle
The paste nudges your skin's pH upward for a short while. That temporary shift is part of how it calms itchy or irritated areas.
Your tub will look different
Every tub is handcrafted, not factory made, so they vary slightly. Crystallised edges are just the bicarb and the vodka doing their thing — completely normal, and nothing has gone wrong.
